Andre Onana refuses to defend Erik Ten Hag over his future at Manchester United
Erik Ten Hag’s position in Manchester United has been put under the microscope following the team’s inconsistency this season. Sitting seventh on the league table, United are currently trailing 11 points from the Champions League zone.
Andre Onana refuses to defend Erik Ten Hag
Amid the situation, United goalkeeper Andre Onana refused to stand up for his gaffer. The two have worked together since Ajax, winning multiple trophies including three Eredivisie titles. Onana said that Ten Hag could defend the managing position by himself owing to his reputation.
“Erik is a very good manager,” Onana told SkySport. “I’m not here to back him because he’s already big enough to back himself. He did great things for United last season. But this is football and I always say football is temporary.”
As well as Ten Hag, Onana has also been under criticism due to his inconsistent performance between the sticks. The Cameroonian goalie admitted that such a situation is hard to cope with, but yet there is nothing he can do about it.
“You deliver good today and yesterday, tomorrow you don’t deliver good and they are always going to remember what you did last. And unfortunately, you can’t change that.”
