Alphonso Davies Injures Ankle in Copa America Semi-Final
In a disappointing turn of events for Canada and Bayern Munich star left-back Alphonso Davies suffered an ankle injury during the Copa America semi-final against Argentina.
The injury occurred in the 70th minute following a tough tackle by Argentina’s Rodrigo De Paul. Despite initial treatment and a brave attempt to continue Davies collapsed again and had to be substituted and replaced by Jonathan Osorio.
Canada’s remarkable Copa America run came to an end with a 2-0 defeat and the loss of their captain was a significant blow. Jesse Marsch’s side fought hard throughout the tournament but their journey ended on a sour note with Davies’ injury overshadowing their achievements.

Future Uncertainty for Bayern Munich
The severity of Davies’ injury remains unclear, but it has caused concern for Bayern Munich. With Davies’ contract set to expire next season Bayern faces a dilemma.
If the injury sidelines him for a significant period the club may lose the chance to sell him for a lucrative fee this summer. Instead, they might have to let him leave on a free transfer next year.
Reports suggest Bayern Munich have been eyeing AC Milan’s Theo Hernández as a potential replacement. However, interest in Hernández has cooled recently.
Depending on Davies’ recovery Bayern could reignite their pursuit of Hernández or meet Davies’ salary demands to secure his stay.
Amidst transfer rumours, especially links to Real Madrid the injury has added a layer of uncertainty. Real Madrid are reportedly waiting for Davies to recover before making a final offer to Bayern.
With Davies entering the final year of his contract Bayern’s negotiation power is limited knowing suitors could wait to sign him for free next year.
