Atlético Madrid closing in on an agreement with Conor Gallagher

Atlético Madrid have accelerated in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher who is expected to make a permanent departure this summer. The 24-year-old has been a mainstay at Chelsea over the past two seasons and has entered the final year of his Blues contract.

Gallagher was arguably the second-best player at Chelsea last season after Cole Palmer but the club is now eager to sell the academy star to make a healthy profit to balance their books. The English midfielder is yet to agree to personal terms with Atlético and will need convincing to make a switch to La Liga.

Chelsea valued the midfielder in the region of €40m but Atlético will surely pay much less than that given his contract situation.
