Arsenal handed boost in their pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres

The Gunners will aim to pip Manchester City for the Premier League crown again this season but would need a proven goalscorer who can hit the ground running in the English top flight.

The North London giants have been linked with several strikers this summer and are now well-positioned to lure Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon this season. Gyökeres has quickly established himself as one of the sought-after goalscorers in Europe after registering 43 goals in 50 games for the Portuguese giants last season.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Swedish striker who can transform Arsenal in the final third if he joins the Emirates this summer. The 26-year-old has an £86 million release clause in his contract with Sporting Lisbon.

The Swedish is unlikely to become a cheap acquisition for Arsenal. Still, according to HITC, the Portuguese outfit would be willing to accept offers below their release clause to sanction a move this summer.

Arsenal reportedly value the Swedish forward at £52 million and it would be interesting to see if the North London giants are ready to break the bank for the talented striker.

The club definitely needs a world-class striker after Gabriel Jesus endured a disappointing 2023/24 campaign where he scored only four goals in the league.
