Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea future could depend on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen decision

According to ‘The Independent’, Serie A club Napoli is eager to include Romelu Lukaku as a part of their discussions with Premier League club Chelsea in regards to any potential move for striker Victor Osimhen.

While the Blues are keen on landing Osimhen this window, Napoli is termed to be keeping an eye on Lukaku’s situation at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian international has spent his last two top-flight seasons playing in Italy with Inter Milan and AS Roma respectively.

The Report from ‘The Independent’ inflicts that Lukau is keen to stay at AS Roma for the time being in order to once again unite with his former manager Antonio Conte at the Italian club. However, he is expected to return to England as of now to train with Chelsea teammates who have stayed back and haven’t boarded the plane to the USA for the pre-season tour.

Reports in English media do insist that Romelu Lukaku’s future for the next season could be sorted out before the ongoing summer transfer window closes. However, it could well be dependent or interrelated to Chelsea’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen.

Lukaku’s current contract with Chelsea runs till June 2026. He was in a decent nic of form during the last Serie A campaign for AS Roma. The Belgian striker registered 16 goal contributions (13 goals and three assists) in his 32 appearances for the club in the previous Italian top-flight season.
