Everton handed Kalvin Phillips transfer boost as Pep Guardiola lays down Man City summer exit plans: Report

As reported by ‘Liverpool Echo‘, Premier League club Everton is handed a boost in their pursuit of Man City’s midfielder Kalvin Phillips. Reports have pointed out that Pep Guardiola recently hinted toward City being willing to let few players leave in the ongoing summer transfer window. Apparently, Phillips is termed to be amongst one of them.

Everton has been linked with the England international in recent times. However, with the departure of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa, their chase for a potent replacement for the Belgian has heated up. If the Toffees are able to bring in Kalvin Phillips this summer, they can assign Onana’s role in the midfield to Abdoulaye Doucoure and give Phillps a more fluid role behind the front attackers.

But despite garnering a sum of about £50 million for Onana in his sale to Villa, Everton are likely to be in a position to only afford a loan move for Kalvin Phillips in order to have any chance of bringing him to Goodison this summer. Phillips spent last season on loan at West Ham. Ever since joining City, his career has been marked by injury concerns. Neither at West Ham nor at City he has been awarded a fair share of opportunities in the playing eleven.

It remains to be seen how Everton progresses on this one in the coming days.
