Everton eyes £30 million-rated Lyon defender

As reported by ‘Goodison News’ and further backed by reputable French outlet ‘Ferveur Lyonnaise’, Everton is eyeing a potential transfer for Ligue 1 club Lyon FC’s defender Jake O’Brien. The reports also direct this move from Toffees to be related to a potential departure of their center-back Jarrab Branthwaite from the club amidst severe interest from Man United.

However, as per ‘Foot001’, Everton initially put in a bid of around £17 million for O’Brien. It considerably fell short of Lyon’s valuation of the player. The French club reportedly demands around £30 million for the 23-year-old.

Goodison News‘ has further termed that the Toffees are now set to go in with a fresh bid for the center-back in the region of £20 million. This bid might land him ahead in the race to sign Jake O’Brien as their rival Premier League clubs West Ham and Nottingham Forest are also interested in the player.

‘Ferveur Lyonnaise’ helmed that Jake O’Brien could be heading for an exit from Lyon in this summer transfer window. This is despite his current contract with the club running till June 2027. With an impressive height of about 6ft’6inch’, O’Brien is quite influential in the air. Also, he does possess certain composure while the ball is at his feet and has a decent passing range.

He could turn out to be a perfect replacement for Jarrad Branthwaite if Toffees do part ways with their defender in this window. Jake O’Brien played 27 matches for Lyon in the previous Ligue 1 season. Apart from his defensive contributions, he also had four goals and two assists to his name.
