Scotland squad suffered an injury scare in their win against Gibraltar

The Scotland national team secured an easy 2-0 victory over Gibraltar before they left for the European Championships in Germany. But Liam Cooper’s side sustained another injury scare after losing striker Lyndon Dykes to a serious injury in training on Friday.

Latest injury update on Scotland national football team

Leeds defender Liam Cooper was seen limping off in the 2-0 win against Gibraltar on Monday evening. His untimely injury would give Liam Cooper another headache after he recently lost QPR striker Lyndon Dykes to a serious injury just two weeks before the Euro 2024 campaign.

The 28-year-old striker has registered nine goals in 36 caps and played in all eight qualifiers for the Tartan Army. Cooper already had four players missing from the matchday squad – Stuart Armstrong, Scott McTominay, Ben Doak and John Souttar, working their way back to full fitness.

They will also be without key trio Aaron Hickey, Nathan Patterson and Lewis Ferguson in Germany who were already missed before Cooper announced his provisional squad.

With Dykes being ruled out of the Scotland Euro 2024 squad, there is now a potential spot for another centre-forward before the manager announces the final squad on June 7, 2024.

Scotland will be kicking off the campaign with hosts Germany on June 14 and are drawn with Hungary and Switzerland into Group A for Euro 2024. They will now host Finland in Glasgow before setting off to Germany for the European Championships.
