Manchester United to sack Erik ten Hag after FA Cup final – Reports

After the club finished in the top four and qualified for Champions League football, a lot was expected from Manchester United especially after a heavy spending summer. That included signing Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund with over €200 million spent. But the Red Devils struggled to perform, losing 14 of their 38 Premier League games and finished outside a European place.

Not only that, they finished bottom of their Champions League group, winning just one of their six games in the process. Yet despite that, the club reached the FA Cup final with a chance to qualify for the Europa League should they beat Manchester City at Wembley. However, ahead of the final, rumours continue to surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future at the club with several names linked to the Old Trafford hot seat.

Red Devils decide to sack Ten Hag no matter FA Cup result – Jacob Steinberg

It has seen the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna and several others linked as potential replacements despite the fact Ten Hag hasn’t been sacked yet. But that is set to change as the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg has reported that Manchester United will sack the Dutch manager after the FA Cup final. The Red Devils face City at Wembley but with all odds against them, the club expect the worse.

The report has indicated that even upsetting the odds and winning the FA Cup won’t save Erik ten Hag’s job as the club have already made their decision. This will be the biggest move that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his group will make since buying a minority share in the Old Trafford side.

Steinberg has further reported that Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, McKenna, Graham Potter and Thomas Frank are on the shortlist to replace the former Ajax boss.
