“Worst experience I have had”- Ange Postecoglou gives a brutally honest assessment of Tottenham vs Manchester City atmosphere
Ange Postecoglou has expressed his despise at the atmosphere of the Tottenham vs Manchester City game. Spurs lost the game 2-0 despite putting up a good fight. Erling Haaland scored a brace for the defending champions.
Heading into the game, Arsenal’s title chances relied on Tottenham. Had Postecoglu’s side gotten points in the game, their north London rivals would have been in pole position. Hence, many Tottenham fans didn’t want that outcome. Postecoglou didn’t hold back when explaining the situation. He said (via Sky Sports):
“I wanna explain it this way. That’s probably the worst experience I have had as a football manager in a game. Because once I realize that I got it wrong in terms of what the atmosphere was gonna be like and what people felt, I got a real anxiety within me.”
Postecoglou pointed out that City were demolishing opponents left and right heading into the game. Hence, Spurs could have been disposed of by a higher goal margin even if they played well. Postecoglu further slammed people questioning his integrity after Spurs started the game well. The Aussie manager noted that he is a man of his principles.
