“You cannot change the people”: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp wants VAR out of the Premier League

Liverpool had a bitter experience with VAR this season when Luis Diaz’s goal was disallowed in a game against Tottenham Hotspur. Days later, it was revealed that the officials admitted that the decision was not right after the conversation in the control room was leaked.

In his final pre-match press conference with Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp spoke about the video technology usage in the Premier League. The former Borussia Dortmund manager said that the problem was not on the VAR but with the people behind it.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that VAR is not the problem

“I don’t think VAR is the problem but the way they use it is the problem,” Klopp said via The Athletic. “You cannot change the people obviously that is clear so I would say I would vote for scrapping VAR.”

Initially, Klopp guaranteed that Liverpool as a club, will not vote against VAR. It’s not unlikely that in the future there will be talks about how to fix the situation regarding VAR within the Premier League’s contestants.

“I don’t think they’re (Liverpool) voting against VAR, I think they’ll vote about how it gets used, because that’s definitely not right,” he said.

“In the way they do it, I would vote against it, because these people are not able to use it properly.”

Liverpool will have their final game of the season playing against Wolverhampton at Anfield. Whatever the result will be, The Reds will stay at the third position as they lead Aston Villa by 11 points.
