One of The Blues promising youngster Conor Gallagher will miss the Newcastle game due to illness. As well as Ben Chilwell who is absent for having a special medical treatment from the team’s doctor.

“Gallagher is not training because he has a virus,” said Chelsea manager Maurico Pochettino via London Football. “That is the news from the medical. He is not here in the last three days we were training. We will see tomorrow or Saturday if he can have the possibility to train. The problem is you lose weight and the energy is down.”

Other players such as Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Christian Nkunku, and Lesley Ugochukwu  are proceeding their rehabs. Levi Colwill, on the other hand, just began their rehabilitation program and the “problem is his toes” according to Pochettino.

Chelsea injuries not an excuse for Maurico Pochettino

This injury, according to Pochettino, has been concerning for him. But the Argentinian refuse to play a blame game. Instead, he said that it was a collective responsibility that Chelsea have to get through .

“Sometimes bad luck or good luck, I don’t like to talk in this way because it looks like if you work or don’t work well, then you must have good or bad luck,” he added. “Too many things happen to why we have today the problems in the squad, it’s about more deep analysis. It’s not only bad luck.

“Also it is something we need to think, we need to improve or to restructure, to pay attention but in all the areas, it is not to blame some area. It is the responsibility of the whole club.”

The crisis has raised questions regarding Chelsea’s manoeuvre in the summer. When asked about the possibility of splashing another big cash mid-year, Poch is not sure.

“I don’t know because I need also to be informed. Until today, we didn’t talk about that and the club today announced the financial. For sure, this afternoon or tomorrow, we will talk and I will be informed. I don’t know what is going to happen,” the former Southampton manager said.

The Blues would have their revenge on The Magpies after losing the reversed fixture at St. James Park. The last time Chelsea lost a league game to Newcastle at home was in 2012, losing 0-2 due to Papiss Cisse’ brace.
