Argentina National Football Team star set for a big move to Manchester United?

Rumors have been circulating in England and Italy as Argentina National football team star, Lautaro Martinez, has been linked with a move to the Red Devils, Manchester United.

According to reports out of Europe, Dutch gaffer Erik ten Hag has ‘personally requested’ the Manchester United board for the signing of Inter Milan star forward, Lautaro Martinez, in the upcoming summer transfer window. Lautaro is having a fantastic season in Milan, having scored a whopping 19 goals in the Serie A. The world cup winning forward has also found the net twice in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Manchester United willing to splash big bucks for Argentina National Football team star in the summer

After a long time Manchester United seem to have a long term plan in place. The signings of Rasmus Højlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana last summer revitalized the squad. Now, Erik Ten Hag seems to be planning the next phase for his squad. Anthony Martial’s failing returns each season leave a gulf in the output of goals in the squad after Rasmus. In order to complement Højlund in attack, the name of Lautaro Martinez has been floating around.

Lautaro Martinez has become a cornerstone in an Inter Milan squad which desires to win Serie A. Inter recently named the young forward their captain and won’t let their starman leave for cheap. However, it seems that Erik ten Hag is adamant on the Argentine and this could see The Red Devils spend an extraordinary amount of money to secure his services.

It remains to be seen if the move is a viable option for United. Their recent big purchases of Mount and Højlund have certainly left a huge hole in their pocket. According to TransferMarket, the striker already carries a price tag of £94 million. For economic reasons, Inter will only negotiate a deal north of that price tag. The only way for Man United to secure Martinez for a lower price is to convince him about the sporting project. The Argentina national football team star’s current contract runs out in June, 2026.
