John O’Shea moved to Manchester United from Sunderland in 1999, renowned for his versatility he has played across various positions for the club in the defence from Right back, to left back and centre defender he has mastered it all.

During his stint from 1999 to 2011, O’Shea was the reliable figure for Sir Alex Ferguson in the backline, the Irishman won several titles including five English Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.

He had played 394 competitive matches and scored 15 goals and managed to provide 23 assists across all competitions for the English club. In 2011 he returned to Sunderland and played seven seasons before announcing his retirement.

The former Machester United and England defender Phill Neville, who is also the elder brother of Garry Neville another club legend will be appearing on the list later on. 

He was a part of “Class of ’92, Phil was a versatile player with an excellent ability to adapt and play various positions in the back line be it Centre-Back, full-back or even as a Defensive midfielder. 

Rose through the ranks of the club’s academy, he spent over a decade at Old Trafford played 384 matches and won six Premier League titles and UEFA Champions League alongwith many domestic trophies.

He arrived in January 2006 at Manchester United from AS Monaco for a bargain fee of £6 million. The Frenchman was a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team during his entire spell with the English giants. 

Evra played 379 matches for the club and made 43 goal contributions across all competitions. While also lifting numerous titles including five league titles and a Champions League triumph in 2008.

Jaap Stam was unarguably one of the best central defenders of his generation and for an English club, even though he had only played for three seasons with Manchester United from 1998 to 2001.

He won three Premier League championships, the Dutchman made 127 appearances for the Red Devils and was a vital member of Manchester United’s 1999 treble-winning team.

Steve Bruce joined the club in 1987 from Norwich during the phase when Manchester United had gone through two decades without winning the league and guided the club to clinch three Premier League titles.

Bruce was well-known for his leadership and fearless defenders and was also hailed for his goal-scoring attributes, he scored 47 goals in 393 appearances for the club. 

He formed a commendable defensive pair with Gary Pallister, at the backline of the club in the 1990’s. He was a consistent figure in the Sir Alex Ferguson’s lineup.

Another vintage defender from the 1990s era, Gary Pallister arrived at Old Trafford from Middlesbrough for then a record British transfer fee of £2.3 million. 

With, the Red Devils, he established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League in that era. Pallister paired alongside Steve Bruce in the backline to power the club to numerous triumphs. 

From 1889 to 1998, the English defender was crowned league champion four times, and three FA Cup trophies. While playing regularly he made a staggering 414 matches across all competitions.

The Irish International played for 12 years at Old Trafford from 1990 to 2002 and made 513 appearances while scoring 31 goals and 25 assists for the club in all competitions. 

The dynamic full-back left the club being the most decorated defender in the club and Premier League’s history with seven league accolades and a treble season in 1999 by lifting the Champions League.

A member of the class of 92’, the right-back is only the fifth player who has racked up more than 600 appearances for the Red Devils only behind the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Bobby Charlton.
