Why Was Wolves Manager Gary O’Neil Banned Ahead of Premier League Clash against Man City?
Gary O’Neil faces a one-game ban due to disrespectful behavior towards the match officials
Wolves manager Gary O’Neil will serve a one-match touchline ban in their next Premier League clash against Man City at the Etihad Stadium to be played on Saturday, May 4. The match will be a crucial fixture in determining the title fate for the hosts Man City as they look to continue to mount pressure on Arsenal. However, Wolves’ plans for delivering an upset at the weekend might be dented by O’Neil’s ban.
The touchline ban for the Wolves boss has come after he was accused of ‘threatening and/or improper’ conduct around the match official’s changing room after his side was denied a late equalizer scored by their captain Max Kilman against West Ham United in a home fixture at Molineux in the earlier part of the April. The goal was ruled out as the home side’s player Tawanda Chirewa was judged offside and in a position impending the view of West Ham’s goalkeeper Lucas Fabianski by the VAR.
Wolves players and their Gaffer Gary O’Neil were pretty disappointed with the decision as none of the opponent’s players protested after the goal went in. Also, Pundits believed that Fabianski wouldn’t been able to save it (the goal) as it was slotted well inside the left corner of the net. The Old Gold has been on the receiving end of quite a few harsh VAR calls this season.
