Wolves forward wanted by Ligue 1 club but Old Gold flashes out ‘Not for Sale’ tag

As reported by ‘BBC’ and further backed by ‘GiveMeSport’, Premier League club Wolves‘ received a bid in the range of £21 million for forward Hwang Hee-Chan from the Ligue 1 side Marseille. However, the Old Gold has rejected the bid and reports have further termed that Wolves hierarchy has deemed that the South Korean player is ‘not for sale’ at this point.

Hwang Hee-Chan has grown as a player at Wolves and in the last Premier League season under Gary O’Neil he emerged as the club’s joint-top scorer alongside Matheus Cunha. In his 29 appearances last campaign, the 28-year-old registered 15 goal contributions (12 goals and three assists) to his name. He also missed some of the games due to injury issues in the previous season.

Marseille has been linked with Hwang Hee-Chan in recent times but looks like they have to halt their interest in the player for the time being amidst Wolves’ reluctance to let him go. The Molineux-based club suffered a spell in the 2022-2023 season where goals were hard to come by. But Gary O’Neil seemed to have sorted out that problem to an extent in the 2023-2024 season. Among Matheus Cunha, Hwang, and Pedro Neto the front three shared 45 goal contributions (26 goals and 19 assists).

It is quite obvious that Wolves would want them to continue that form leading into the 2024-25 season. Even though the Old Gold have added players like, Rodrigo Gomes, Pedro Lima, and Jorgen Strand Larsen to the squad in this transfer window, they reportedly want to keep big hitters for the next season. Hwang Hee-Chan’s current contract with Wolves runs till June 2028.
