Wolves vs Chelsea Player Ratings as Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer shine

Chelsea have secured their first league win under Enzo Maresca by thumping Wolverhampton 6-2 at the Molineux. Noni Madueke was the talk of the town after his X-rated comments on the city, and he stole the show with a hat-trick on the pitch.

Jackson needed less than 100 seconds to get on the scoresheet today, but Wolves pulled back through Cunha soon. Cole Palmer made it 2-1 but Chelsea could not hold on to the lead until half-time as Jorgen Strand Larsen made it 2-2.

The first half was end-to-end, but the second half was a full-on domination from Chelsea. Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick, with Joao Felix getting the final goal on his second debut for the Premier League club.

GOALKEEPER

José Sá – 5: Made two saves and came out to help his defenders. But he should have done a lot better and was conceding goals from weak shots.

DEFENDERS

Matt Doherty – 6

Played the full game despite the injury scare in the first half. However, he could not do much against Neto and Mudryk.

Yerson Mosquera – 5.5

Lucky to have finished the full match after his challenge on Moises Caicedo. The defender was helpless against Nicolas Jackson and Joao Felix.

Toti Gomes – 6.5

Pick of the Wolves defenders but it has more to do with his assist than defending. He too could not do much against the Chelsea attackers and was exposed a lot.

Rayan Aït Nouri – 4.5

Got an assist in the game, but was unable to stop Madueke, who was able to string him around like a puppet.

MIDFIELDERS

João Gomes – 6

Could not do much in the whole game and was hardly able to influence the play. Enzo and Caicedo were on him at every chance.

Mario Lemina – 6

Similar to Gomes, but had far fewer touches. He did finish with 100% pass success, but just not enough to help his team.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 5

Hard to spot him on the pitch throughout the game. Played 68 minutes, and managed just 3 passes.

FORWARDS

Hee-Chan Hwang – 6

Was trying his best to close down the Chelsea defense and put pressure on them, but just could not get it done. He did not get a single shot away in the 59 minutes he played.

Matheus Cunha – 7.5

The best player from Wolves, without any doubt. Scored the opening goal and was a constant threat to the Chelsea defense.

Jørgen Strand Larsen – 7

Did extremely well against Fofana but was troubled by Colwill. He managed just one shot on target, but scored from it.

SUBSTITUTES

Daniel Podence – 6

Craig Dawson – 6

Rodrigo Gomes – 6

Pablo Sarabia – 7

Tommy Doyle – 6

GOALKEEPER

Robert Sánchez – 5

Conceded 4 times but luckily two goals were ruled out for offside. His only contribution for Chelsea was trhe long ball to Jackson that led to Palmer’s goal.

DEFENDERS

Malo Gusto – 7

Up and down the pitch throughout the game and had multiple chances to get an assist. However, his final ball was poor and easily defended all the time.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Was struggling against the Wolves forwards today and just not able to get his feet going. Still showed signs of improving slowly after missing last season.

Levi Colwill – 7

Rock solid performance from the Chelsea star, and he was the key reason they did not concede more. Was able to intercept passes and also get in position to block efforts.

Marc Cucurella – 6.5

The Spaniard is showing time and again why he has got the left-back spot ahead of Ben Chilwell. He was good once again and proved to be a useful figure in defense.

MIDFIELDERS

Moisés Caicedo – 7

A rather poor first half was followed by a calm and composed second. He was forced off injured after a challenge by Mosquera.

Enzo Fernández – 7

Similar to Caicedo as he found his feet in the second half. Was able to get the game flowing and controlled the possession at the end.

FORWARDS

Noni Madueke – 10

A much-needed performance from Madueke amid reports that he could be sold this week. He scored a hattrick with ease in the second half and was tracking back to defend until the end.

Cole Palmer – 9.5

It was a frustrating start to the game for Palmer, but he still managed to finish with a goal and a hat trick of assists! He slotted the ball in for all of Madueke’s goals and they were able to ease past Wolves in the second half.

Mykhaylo Mudryk – 6

A bright start to the game but faded away quickly. Was replaced by Neto at halftime.

Nicolas Jackson – 8

Excellent goal to start the game and an even better assist to make help Palmer score. Lucky to have not got sent off as he was involved in a lot of off-the-ball antics from the very start.

SUBSTITUTES

Pedro Neto – 7

João Félix – 7

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 5

Renato Veiga – 6

Christopher Nkunku – 6
