Arsenal Eyeing Defensive Reinforcement: Willian Pacho Emerges as Potential Target
In the summer transfer window, Arsenal are hoping to bolster their defensive line, and there is talk of one specific player joining the team this summer.
Arsenal Keen on Signing Willian Pacho
Rumours about who Arsenal might buy in the summer have begun to get traction following a turbulent week in which they crashed out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich on Wednesday and lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
However, the most recent player to be connected to the Gunners is a center-back, even though strikers still seem to be the most likely area of concern.
Arsenal are reportedly exploring a £38.5 million summer transfer for Eintracht Frankfurt center-back Willian Pacho, 22, who has shown promise in the Bundesliga this year, according to the Ecuadorian website Bolavip.
However, the source indicates that Frankfurt would prefer a sum closer to £52 million, indicating a discrepancy in the two teams’ values. Additionally, Liverpool may up the price even more as they are also interested in the Ecuadorian.
Pacho, who is left-footed and at ease with the ball, may be starting for Arsenal in place of Gabriel in the upcoming campaign.

Frankfurt Sporting Director on Willian Pacho
With Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche highlighting his physical abilities in particular, he would undoubtedly fit nicely with Mikel Arteta’s emphasis on defensive stability.
“Willian is a very clever player, who listens well and is quick to implement what’s asked of him,” Krosche said. “His speed and strength in the tackle are what make him stand out.”
Despite Transfermarkt valuing Pacho at £27m, his market price is expected to soar given his contract situation and impressive performances.
While Pacho may not be the final target for Arsenal, the pursuit of a left-sided center-back indicates the club’s intent to reinforce their defensive options.
With uncertainties surrounding Arteta’s defensive lineup and the need for defensive stability, Arsenal’s interest in Pacho signifies a proactive approach to addressing defensive concerns ahead of the new season.
