Who will start for Liverpool against Man City this weekend? Predicted Liverpool vs Man City starting lineup.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will be taking on Pep Guardiola’s men at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, a tie that could determine the leader of the ongoing Premier League season.
Both sides have their list of injury concerns, with Liverpool having the longer list but will be eased with the return of Mo Salah in the midweek clash against Sparta Prague in the Europa League.
Will Mo Salah start against Manchester City at Anfield?
The Reds would be happy to welcome Mo Salah who returned to first-team training on Tuesday and played a cameo against Sparta Prague on Thursday night.
The Egyptian captain was sidelined with muscle fatigue after Liverpool’s game against Brentford on February 17 but the veteran is currently working towards a full recovery.
Salah has one of the best records against Manchester City and would be a huge encouragement for Jurgen Klopp if he is deemed fit for the mega weekend tie.
First-team defender Ibrahima Konate picked up a knock in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Sparta and was replaced by Virgil van Dijk for the remainder of the game.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the French defender is fine but refused to give a straight answer on the defender’s availability this weekend.
Klopp explained: “No, we don’t know it. Ibou said to me when he passed me in that moment, ‘I thought if I did another sprint then it could be bad’.
“So, he said ‘should be fine’ but we don’t know.”
The Reds have been plagued with injuries in recent weeks and would be going into this game without nine first-team players.
Liverpool will be without the services of Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Diogo Jota, Joël Matip, Thiago Alcântra, Ben Doak and Stefan Bajčetić.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are leading the table by just a point, so if both Liverpool and Man City share the spoils this weekend, it will allow Arsenal to end the weekend on the top of the Premier League table.
