Real Madrid are set to return from their winter break on Friday when the travel to Valencia for the La Liga. In the league table, Real Madrid are currently placed at second, one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid and two clear of arch-rivals Barcelona while Valencia are struggling in the 19th position.

Valencia are currently going through a difficult phase as they have recorded two wins, six draw and nine defeats from their 17 league games this season. They are yet to register avictory in the last five games of the league. The game against Real Madrid will be Carlos Corberan’s first game in charge of the Spanish outfit. They come into this game after sharing points with Espanyol and Alaves in their last two matches, with their last success in Spain’s top flight coming at home against Real Betis in November.

Real Madrid on the other hand, would be excited to return as they set their eyes on winning the La Liga. They entered the winter break on the back of a 4-2 win over Sevilla, which moved them onto 40 points from 18 league matches. Real Madrid only need a point to move to the top of the league table but there is absolutely no question that the reigning champions will be bidding to secure all three. They seemed to have find the perfect way to balance their front three but the defence remains a problem. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said, I think motivation in the team looks good, they’re focused, but I’ll remind them tomorrow that things didn’t go to plan and hopefully that will give us an extra edge.”

When asked about how he has prepared his team tactically, Ancelotti said, ” We looked at how this coach set up when he was at West Brom, taking Valencia’s attributes into account. As a team, with how Baraja played, they’re pretty similar to what the new coach will look to do. We’ve assessed both elements.”
