An astonishing £1.3 million was raised in the Manchester United and Liverpool Legends charity match last year. With such an accomplishment, United plans to hold another philanthropy event this year. This time, the pick goes to a Scottish powerhouse, Celtic FC.
United and Celtic are known to have a connection since a long time ago. Particularly since The Red Devils won the European Cup back in 1967 with a Scottish man in charge, Jock Stein. Celtic were also invited to Bryan Robson’s testimonial match with Bryan McClair in it.
When will Man United vs Celtic Legends match be underway and where to watch it?
This match will be held at Old Trafford, Manchester on 7 September 2024. The game will also be broadcast internationally on MUTV. so those who couldn’t attend the game can still watch it. The kick-off will be underway at 2 pm UK time.
Robson will also be featured in this event as a manager of the United team. Numerous legends including Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov will also be there. Meanwhile from the opponents’ side, Paul Lambert with take charge of the Hoops XI.
“Every time I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of these games the competitive edge has always been there. The players might have retired, but they all still want to win and we’ve had some great games down the years. I’m delighted to be managing the team once again.” Robson said on his involvement in the event.
This weekend, both sides will go head to head at Old Trafford in a charity match for young people around Manchester. The fund will go through the Manchester United Foundation and be used for those who need education for inner football jobs to gain confidence.
