The Premier League prize money:
The Premier League certainly stands out as one of the top football leagues in the world. The English football league garners a vast amount of eyeballs per season from almost every corner of the world. The amazing quality of football on display is further enhanced by the passionate fan presence and the iconic stadiums of some of the greatest clubs in world football.
When it comes to the Premier League prize money, the winner of the league gets a hefty chunk of monetary remuneration which in terms of exact figures stands around the mark of £62.3 million (as per the 2022-2023 season). The league is contested by a total of 20 teams.
Every year the bottom three clubs on the points table get relegated to the EFL Championship division of English football. These teams are further replaced by the top three teams from the same EFL Championship competition getting promoted to the Premier League.
According to a recent report by ‘Businessday’, each of the 20 league positions is estimated to be raked around a sum of £3.1 million, getting the winner’s prize money of Man City for the 2022-2023 top-flight campaign to £62.3 million (20*3.1). However, there is also a certain some of reward money on every Premier League position at the end of a season based on the league’s equal share and merit payments rule which gets reduced by every position.
