What did Enzo Fernandez say to Mason Mount at full time?
While Chelsea have endured a tough 2023/24 season, things have picked up for the London side recently as they’ve found a nice vein of form. It hasn’t stopped rumours linking Mauricio Pochettino with an exit amidst news that the Blues are looking for a new manager. But despite that, the Argentine’s methods seem to be working as proven in a dramatic win over Manchester United.
The Blues took an early 2-0 lead only to be pegged back by the Red Devils as they were 3-2 up with 20 minutes to go and it seemed like the game was over. However, Chelsea proved to be far tougher to beat than that as the Blues scored not once but twice in extra time. Cole Palmer turned star as he scored twice, first with a penalty in the 90+10 minute and less than a minute later, he scored from a corner.
Enzo Fernandez confronts Mason Mount after Chelsea’s win
However, the post match focus wasn’t on the late late drama but instead on Enzo Fernandez and Mason Mount. The former Chelsea youth academy star signed for Manchester United during the summer but has struggled for form and with various injuries. It was, however, Mount’s first appearance at Stamford Bridge since he left and things didn’t go according to plan.
In a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, Fernandez could be seen taunting Mount after the final whistle, even tapping the Chelsea badge on his shirt. He also appeared to say something to Mount but while that was initially unclear what was said, a video has emerged on X. It shows Fernandez, after the fourth goal, calling Mount a “Cagon”.
That reportedly means coward or chicken as per Sportscenter ESPN and it echoed the statement that many Chelsea fans wanted to make against Mount. The stadium was filled with fans holding Chelsea No19 shirts (Mount’s number at Chelsea) with Judas written on the back. Fernandez’s reaction also won plaudits and applause from several Chelsea fans, with many cheering the Argentine on.
