West Ham vs Tottenham Preview:

In a midweek battle between two sides vying for a European spot, West Ham will host Tottenham at the London stadium on matchday 31 in the English Premier League. Despite playing fantastic football, the Hammers fell to a 4-3 loss against Newcastle United over the weekend. The loss prolonged a bad phase for West Ham as the club has failed to win any of their last three matches in the Premier League. David Moyes will not be too worried however as his players have displayed good commitment on the field and are regaining confidence going into the match against Tottenham.

Coming into the battle on the back of a closely contested 2-1 victory against Luton Town are Tottenham. Spurs have been impressive under their new manager Ange Postecoglou and are in the run for a top four finish at the end of the season. Tottenham enter matchday 31 only three points behind 4th placed Aston Villa. A win against West Ham away from home could certainly boost their hopes of securing a champions league spot for next season.

West Ham vs Tottenham Team News:

The Hammers will consider themselves lucky to arrive at the business end of the season with a very short injury list. While West Ham had recovered all their players from injury ahead of their weekend tie, a muscle injury to Alphonse Areola on 31st March has suddenly put his participation against Tottenham in jeopardy. The extent of the injury is unknown and it is likely that the goalkeeper will be excluded from the squad against Spurs as a precaution.

Edson Alvarez will be the second absentee for West Ham as will miss the game against Tottenham via suspension. David Moyes will be happy to have several key figures back from injury and will definitely look to earn three crucial points by fielding his strongest XI tonight.

Tottenham:

While Tottenham isn’t suffering from a massive injury crisis, their injury list is certainly longer than that of West Ham. Against the Hammers, Tottenham will be without the services of Ryan Sessegnon. The young left wingback has been suffering with hamstring issues all season long and his latest hamstring surgery has once again put him in the recovery ward. His return is unknown and he will definitely miss the West Ham vs Tottenham tie.

Tottenham’s reserve goalkeepers Fraser Forster and Alfie Whiteman will continue to recover from their injuries as well. While Alfie is apparently set to return in a few weeks it is unknown as to when Forster will return to full fitness. Ange will be glad that his first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario continues to remain injury-free. Meanwhile, Manor Solomon’s long-term injury will see the player remain on the sidelines for an indefinite period.

West Ham vs Tottenham Head-to-Head Record:

The West Ham vs Tottenham rivalry can be traced back to the year 1898. The two clubs are some of the oldest clubs in English football and the rivalry has seen the two sides face each other a shocking 222 times since 1898. Predictably, Tottenham has dominated the tie as they have won the tie 101 times while West Ham have managed to hold their own and win 67 times. 54 games between the two sides have ended in a draw. West Ham vs Tottenham Prediction:

Despite playing some beautiful attacking football over the weekend, West Ham lost to Newcastle while Tottenham scraped a win against relegation favorites Luton Town. It would be unfair to judge the game solely on their form coming into the game as both sides have severely struggled recently. Both squads are mostly injury free with key players available for both sides. The game will be closely contested, but on paper, Tottenham have a slight advantage.

Predicted Score: West Ham 1-2 Tottenham
