West Ham tipped to sign free agent Sergio Roberto ahead of Aston Villa and Ajax

West Ham are one of the clubs “best positioned” to sign Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto, according to Catalunya Radio.

Aston Villa and Ajax are also said to be interested in the versatile player, however, the Hammers are said to be in pole position for the former Barcelona man.

New West Ham coach Julen Lopetegui has managed Roberto for the Spanish national team for some time and believes his connection to the player will work in their favour ahead of Villa.

Roberto made 373 appearances for Barcelona and is now a free agent.
