Watford winger set to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad
According to a recent report from ‘Sports Napoli’, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad is set to sign EFL Championship side Watford FC’s winger Yaser Asprilla. The transfer sum involved in this saga is reported to be about £25 million as of now. The move is termed to be a big one for both Asprilla and the Hornets in terms of financial significance.
It has been reported that the player wasn’t able to refuse the offer in terms of the salary prospects involved. Regarding the English club, an amount nearing £25 million stands as a decent piece of business for Watford, considering they aren’t currently involved in the top tier of English football.
Also, the other club that stands to benefit from this potential transfer deal is Seria A’s Udinese as per ‘Sports Napoli’. It is because the Owners of Watford namely – ‘The Pozzo Family’ are also the owners of Udinese.
Yaser Asprilla has six caps for Colombia on the international stage in his career. In the last Championship season, he made 44 appearances for Watford, scoring six goals and registering seven assists. The 20-year-old’s current contract with the Hornets is due to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season. Asprilla reportedly also garnered transfer interest from AS Roma recently.
