Watch: Kyle Walker reveals his favorite winger
The stopper was made to choose between Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, and Lamine Yamal.
In modern football, wingers are often seen playing an equally important role to that of a striker if not more important. Top clubs make it a priority to scout the best wingers and more in securing deals with millions for the best wingers. Just a few weeks back, Kylian Mbappe signed for Real Madrid, in what was one of the biggest “free” deals in history.
Among all the premium wingers playing today, it has become a tough task to determine who is the best. One of the best side-backs in the world currently, Kyle Walker was asked the same question at Sky Sports. The options were the three best in the world currently- Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe, and Lamine Yamal.
Walker also found it tough to determine. But, the Manchester City right-back did reveal his rankings, and that too with apt justifications for doing so. At first, he revealed that among the three, he would place Barcelona’s 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal in the third spot. He shared that he feels Yamal deserves a spot on the list for all the things he is doing currently, so he will place him at three.
At spot two, he placed Real Madrid’s new signing Kylian Mbappe. The choice was a surprise for many, as Mbappe has achieved a lot in both club and international football. The 25-year-old is still dominating on the world stage. Walker however shared that he would place Mbappe at two because he didn’t face Mbappe yet “technically”.
In spot one, he kept none other than Real Madrid’s best performer from last time, Vinicius Jr. Walker went all praise for Vinicius, and why not? The Brazilian star had 35 goal contributions last year, and numerous skills to create chances uncounted.
