Vitor Roque backed to succeed at Real Betis
Barcelona have decided to send the Brazilian striker on a season-long loan to Real Betis, instead of selling him in a permanent deal this summer. Roque has struggled to impress at Camp Nou since his arrival in the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old striker failed to convince ex-manager Xavi and current manager Hansi Flick to give him a role in the squad at Barcelona as he was left without a shirt number with his No.19 jersey given to Lamine Yamal.
Barcelona sporting director Deco, who convinced the club to make a move for the Brazilian last summer, believes Roque will benefit from staying in Spain.
“Vitor is going to a great club. It’s a great team to play for. I think it will be easier for him to compete in a league like the Spanish league, where he will show that he is a great player. Being in the same league as Barça will help him,” he told AS.
