Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich? All you need to know
In search of a new manager to replace Thomas Tuchel, one surprising rumour emerged to the surface as Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is said to be one of the candidates. Bayern have struggled to find Tuchel’s replacement, being linked to some notable names but none of them was materialised.
The likes of Zinedine Zidane, Hansi Flick, Xabi Alonso, even Roberto De Zerbi were linked to a move to Bayern. However, the rumours have not given any improvement and the most successful Bundesliga side found it difficult to find a fit candidate.
Bayern Munich found it harder than it looks
According to the departure announcement in February, Tuchel would be effectively putting down his managerial role once the season ends, which was last week. But as the time approaches summer, any updates or official announcement is yet to be heard from Bavaria.
Kompany has not managed any top teams since taking the managerial role in 2019. The role in Bayern would be a huge leap for his career as a manager since he only has RSC Anderlecht and Burnley on his portfolio list.
There are no clearer statements from Bayern’s key people such as Max Eberl or Christoph Freund yet regarding this rumour. Kompany himself has just returned to the Championship division after being only promoted last summer.
The only silverware Kompany has won as a manager was the EFL Championship title with Burnley, winning it in 2023 which granted them a promotion to the Premier League. The Belgian will still be on-contract with The Clarets until the summer of 2028.
