Aston Villa Goalkeeper Ruled Out for Remainder of Season After Hip Surgery
Aston Villa‘s Women’s Super League campaign has been dealt a significant blow as goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar will miss the rest of the season due to hip surgery, the club announced.
Daphne van Domselaar Will Not Play This Season Again
The 24-year-old Netherlands international underwent successful surgery after suffering a hip issue ahead of Aston Villa’s 4-0 League Cup semi-final defeat against Arsenal earlier this month.
In van Domselaar’s absence, Anna Leat has taken up the goalkeeping duties for Carla Ward’s side, featuring in both the League Cup semi-final and Saturday’s 2-1 WSL victory over Everton.
Van Domselaar, who joined Aston Villa from FC Twente last summer, adds to the list of sidelined players at the Midlands club.

Update on Lucy Parker
Defender Lucy Parker continues her recovery process after undergoing ankle surgery in January, while midfielder Lucy Staniforth faces a season-ending injury sustained in the same month.
The absence of van Domselaar poses a challenge for Aston Villa as they navigate through the remaining fixtures of the Women’s Super League campaign. With key players sidelined, the team will look to rally together and maintain their performance levels in the pursuit of their objectives.
