Venezuela 1-1 (4-5 on Pens.) Canada: Player Ratings as The Reds Reach Semis After Shootout Victory
Canada reached the semi-finals of the 2024 Copa America after dispatching Venezuela 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw between them in normal time. Jacob Schaffelburg put the Maple Leaves in front after only 13 minutes into the kick-off, before Salomon Rondon pulled La Vinotinto level after the hour mark.
With neither side able to find the winner, the match went into penalty shootouts, where five penalties were missed, three for Venezuela, as Ismael Kone scored his in the sudden death to send Canada through. It’s now a rematch with defending champions Argentina for them in the last four, with revenge in mind for their 2-0 loss in the group stages.
