Valencia vs Barcelona Player Ratings: Lewandowski brace seals 2-1 win for the Catalans in La Liga opener

Giorgi Mamardashvili — 6/10. Made a few good saves, but couldn’t be blamed for the goals.

Thierry Correia — 6/10. Got up and down the wing with intent, but crossing wasn’t on point.
Cristhian Mosquera — 4/10. Gave away the penalty for Barca’s second goal. A learning curve for him.
Yarek — 7/10. A decent outing from the youngster. Could establish himself as a full starter this season.

Pepelu —7/10. Very promising outing. Broke up play well and passed very tidily as well.
Rafa Mir— 5/10. Ran and pressed hard, but didn’t do much more.
Javi Guerra — 6/10. Covered ground quite well, but his rawness shows sometimes.
Diego Lopez — 7/10. Put in a number of dangerous crosses, including the one for Duro’s goal.

Goalkeeper
Marc Andre Ter Stegen – 5/10. Forced into a few saves but made a few errors.
Defenders
Jules Kounde – 7/10. The Frenchman rarely sets a foot wrong whenever he plays and this was another one of those performances.
Pau Cubarsi – 7/10. Decent outing. Made a massive goal line clearance.
Inigo Martinez – 5/10. Looked a little out of place and was given the run around by Valencia’s young players.
Alejandro Balde – 6/10. Lost Duro for the first goal of the game. Showed some improvement going forward. Taken off with an injury scare.
Midfielders
Marc Bernal – 7/10. Decent debut for the 17 year old. Looks comfortable at the top level despite being so young.
Marc Casado – 6/10. Ran around a lot and put in the hard work. Should have scored late on.
Lamine Yamal – 8/10. Very clearly on a different level to everyone else on the pitch. Assisted Lewandowski’s first and should have had a couple more assists had his teammates converted the chances he created for them. Yamal was Barcelona’s joint top performer.
Ferran Torres – 5/10. Poor outing. Failed to convert good chances.
Raphinha – 7/10. Tried a lot of things, not all of them came off. Won the penalty.
Forwards
Robert Lewandowski – 8/10. Scored a brace and won Barca the game, but Lewa‘s overall game still isn’t up to the mark.
Substitutions:
Pedri – 7/10.
Gerard Martin – 6/10.
Eric Garcia – 6/10.
Andreas Christensen – 6/10.
Pau Victor – 6/10.
