UEFA Euro 2024: Teams who have qualified

Germany is gearing up to host UEFA 2024 this year in the summer when the club season ends. The tournament will have 24 teams competing for the trophy, which Italy currently holds. 

Twenty-one teams have booked their place in the competition so far, with another six teams battling for the final spots. Without further ado, let us take a look at the UEFA EURO 2024 Qualifying teams that have already sealed their place for the summer tournament:

Albania

Albania will be making its way to Germany this summer to play in their second UEFA EURO competition. They did not qualify for the 2020 tournament after making it to the group stage in 2016.

They have been drawn into Group B along with Italy, Croatia and Spain. Their first match will be against the defending champions on the 15th of June. 

Austria

Ralf Ragnick will be managing Austria as they make their way to their 4th UEFA EURO competition. The German coach will be looking to impress in his home country and hoping to take them past the Round of 16, where they were eliminated in the 2020 edition.

Austra are in Group D this summer, and will face France and The Netherlands. Their third opponent will be the winner of Play-Off A. 

Belgium

The 1980 runners-up will be looking to go all the way this summer when they take the pitch in Germany. This will be the first tournament for Domenico Tedesco, after he was appointed following the departure of Roberto Martinez.

They have been drawn in Group E along with Slovakia and Romania. Belgium’s third opponent in the group stage will be the winner of Play-Off B.

Croatia

The FIFA World Cup runners-up in 2018 have not managed to get past the quarterfinals in UEFA EUROs. They are playing their seventh European competition and hoping for a significant impact in the summer. They are in Group B along with Spain, Albania and Italy.

Czech Republic

Czech Republic finished in the quarterfinals of the 2020 edition and will be looking to keep the momentum going. They have a good squad coming into the tournament and will be looking to repeat what Czechoslovakia did in 1976 and go all the way.

They play Portugal, Play-Off Winner C and Turkey in Group F this summer.

Denmark

The surprise package in the 2020 edition, Denmark, managed to make it to the semifinals. They have a decent group with England, Slovenia and Serbia this summer and will be keen on easing into the knockout stages and weaving their magic again. 

England

The 2020 runners-up have been singing ‘It’s coming home’ for years and will be looking to make it a reality this summer. They lost in the penalty shootout to Italy in the previous edition and Gareth Southgate will be hoping his players can finish the job they started. 

They have been drawn in Group C along with Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia. 

France 

Kylian Mbappe has won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and finished as the runner-up in 2022. However, he has not been able to do well in the UEFA EUROs and will be looking to correct it this summer. 

France were knocked out of the 2020 edition in the Round of 16 and will be keen on improving. They face Austria, The Netherlands and the winner of Play-Off A in the group stages.

Germany

Unlike the other countries, Germany qualified for the tournament without going through the qualifiers as they are the host nation. They too were knocked out of the tournament in the Round of 16 last time around and have been in poor form on the international stage. 

They are in Group A this summer and will take on Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland. 

Hungary

Hungary have made it to three consecutive UEFA EUROs after going 44 years without qualifying. They are up against Switzerland, Germany and Scotland in Group A and will be looking to replicate their 1964 heroics of finishing 3rd. 

Italy

The reigning champions are keen on defending their crown and will be facing Albabia, Spain and Croatia in the group stages. They are coached by Luciano Spalletti this summer after Roberto Mancini quit for Saudi Arabia. 

The Netherlands

The Netherlands have not been at their best since winning the UEFA EUROs in 1988. They have to take on France, Austria and the winner of Play-off A in the group stages this summer. 

Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo might be playing his final UEFA EURO this summer and Portugal will be keen on helping him win the tournament. They face the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Play-Off winner C in the group stages. 

Romania 

Romania are back in the UEFA EUROs after failing to qualify for the 2020 edition. They will take on Belgium, Slovakia and Play-Off winner B in the group stages and aim to better their quarterfinal finish from 2000.

Scotland

Scotland have never got past the group stage at the UEFA EUROs and Steve Clarke will be hoping to be the first coach to help them get to the knockout stages. They face Germany, Switzerland and Hungary in the group stages and will be confident.

Serbia

Serbia did not qualify for the 2020 edition but managed to make it to the finals this year. Their star-powered attack, led by Dusan Vlahovic, will be looking to impress when they face England, Slovenia, and Denmark in the group stages. 

Slovakia

Slovakia have been slotted with Belgium, Romania and Play-off winner B this summer at the group stages. They have never got past the group stage like Scotland and will be aiming to break the knockout stage curse.

Slovenia

Slovenia will be playing at the UEFA EUROs this summer for the first time since the 2000 edition. They are up against Denmark, Serbia and England in Group C and will be keen on getting past the group stages for the first time.

Spain

Spain go into the tournament as one of the favorites for the trophy and will be hoping to live up to the expectations. The three-time winners are facing Croatia, Italy, and Albania in the group stages this summer. 

Switzerland

Switzerland made it to the quarterfinals in the 2020 edition, and it was their best-ever finish at the UEFA EURO finals. They will be a side to keep an eye on if they get past Germany, Scotland and Hungary in the group stages. 

Turkey

Turkey are set to play in their sixth UEFA EURO finals and will be keen on repeating their 2008 heroics. They finished in the semifinals back then but were knocked out of the 2020 edition in the group stage. 

They face Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Play-Off winner C in the group stages.
