Tottenham’s transfer links to Wolves’ midfielder could become clear as the window nears its end
Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has been consistently linked with a potential transfer move for league rivals Wolves’ midfielder Joao Gomes in the ongoing 2024 summer transfer window.
The links have reignited again after Ange Postecoglou’s midfield option in the form of Rodrigo Bentacur suffered a nasty injury scare in the club’s opening fixture of the season against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
With the transfer window nearing its close and the only other notable options in the midfield for Big Ange are termed to be Yves Bissouma, and new signee Archie Gray, it looks like the North London club are in need of someone who could provide that security in the middle of the park to Postecoglou for the remainder of the season.
‘The Mirror’, recently laid out that with Wolves pretty much willing to cash in on their big hitters in this window in order to provide Gary O’Neil the financial strength to re-build his side, Tottenham may have a gate open to land Joao Gomes before the window shuts.
Another notable aspect that Spurs fans, Ange Postecoglou, and the club’s top hierarchy might remember that is the Brazilian midfielder scored a brace in February last Premier League season against Spurs when Wolves beat them via a scoreline of 1-2 at their own backyard.
Whether Tottenham does make a late attempt to land Joao Gomes, remains to be seen.
