Tottenham Hotspur in line for Scott McTominay as the North Londoners look to hijack Fulham target
As per ‘The Sun’, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to hijack their London neighbors Fulham’s transfer target from Manchester United in the form of Scott McTominay. Fulham have been linked with McTominay recently as the club also had their initial bid turned down for the Scottish midfielder.
Now, The Sun’s report points out that Tottenham is also keeping close tabs on Scott McTominay’s situation at the Red Devils and has emerged as another potential suitor for the 27-year-old. Man United reportedly want around £40 million for the midfielder.
Even though it has been stated that Erik ten Hag is reluctant to let the Scotsman go, if United ends up getting anything near their asking price for McTominay, it will significantly help them in terms of keeping up with the Premier League’s PSR and FFP regime and also could aid in bringing few more players in the ongoing summer transfer window.
A player like Scott McTominay could suit Ange Postecoglou at Spurs. It is evident that the Scottish midfielder likes to find himself in advanced areas of the pitch during attacking situations. It might turn out to be a best-case scenario for the way Postecoglou likes his players to play the game.
Even if not always a part of starting 11, McTominay could be a perfect substitute option for the North London-based club. The 27-year-old’s current contract with United runs till June 2025. In the last Premier League season, he made 32 appearances for them, netting seven goals and registering one assist.
