Tottenham face huge blow as Richarlison is ruled out for 4 weeks
Ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, the North Londoners have been one of the most entertaining teams in the Premier League. However, while their form has dropped off in recent weeks, Spurs have still managed to find points and currently sit in fifth place. Yet while they are five points behind fourth-place Aston Villa, Tottenham have been hampered by several injuries over the past few months.
James Maddison, Heung-Min Son, Ryan Sessegnon and a catalogue of others have all been missing for parts of the season but others have stepped up including Richarlison. The Brazilian had a horrible start to his Tottenham career but things have picked up this season, with only Heung-Min Son scoring more. That is thanks to a superb run of form since December, with the 26-year-old netting nine goals in his last ten league games.
Postecoglou confirms that Richarlison will miss several weeks
However, his luck has seemingly run out as Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has revealed that the forward is set to be out for several weeks with a knee injury. This comes after rumours that the Brazilian was injured after he wasn’t spotted in training footage this week. The Australian manager also opened up about Ryan Sessegnon’s injury issues and admitted that the Englishman has had a tough run of luck.

“Richarlison is out for three to four weeks. He picked up a bit of a knee injury in the last game. Ryan [Sessegnon] had a bit of a setback after the last game, well a big one. With Richy, it’s disappointing, he’s been a key contributor, how our season has gone, get one back and lose one. Sess is a tough one, it’s through no fault of his own, worked hard to come back.,” said the Australian, reported Football London.
“It’s always challenging when happens as series of events and he hasn’t had any reward for all his hard work of rehab in terms of getting out there to play. He will get the support he needs, he’s had surgery, he’s a positive guy and he’s been through this before so hopefully that helps.”
Destiny Udogie back in contention but Pedro Poro to miss out again
With a tough run of games ahead of them, Spurs play Crystal Palace next followed by Aston Villa and Fulham before hosting Luton Town to end the month of March. Yet while Richarlison is likely to miss all four games, Postecoglou confirmed that Destiny Udogie is back in training. However, while the Italian full-back is in contention to face Palace, the Spurs boss revealed that Pedro Poro won’t be.
“Destiny [Udogie] has a chance. He’s trained so we’ll see how he pulls up. Pedro is probably still another week away,” Postecoglou added.
