Three reasons why should Kylian Mbappe play at the Olympics
The Frenchman is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer after he refused to sign a contract extension with PSG. The 25-year-old forward has long been linked with Real Madrid and reportedly has a verbal agreement with the Galacticos. With his contract expiring this June, Mbappe is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any interested parties.
The World Cup winner is expected to participate in Euro 2024 with France and potentially the Summer Olympics, which will be hosted in Paris.
But Real Madrid have sent an email to the French Football Federation stating that they won’t be releasing any players for the upcoming summer Olympics.
In a recent interview, Mbappe revealed that he will focus on representing his nation in Euros as well as the Summer Olympics in Paris.
He said: “I always wanted to play at the Olympics and my desire has not changed. If I play the Olympics then it will be a dream, but if I’m not allowed to, then I will do as I’m told. The decision is still up to one person and they haven’t told me yes or no.”

Three reasons why Kylian Mbappe should participate in the Olympics
- Representing Les Blues in the Olympics will be one of the highest levels of achievement for Kylian Mbappe. Securing a gold medal in the tournament will be a remarkable feat that only a few players have managed to accomplish. Thierry Henry who currently manages the France U23 squad for the upcoming Olympic games claims Mbappe has already surpassed Henry’s legacy.
- Playing for his country in this tournament would allow him to overtake Henry’s 51 goals and get closer to Olivier Giroud’s all-time record of 56 goals. Kylian Mbappe has notched an impressive 46 goals for the Les Blues.
- The Olympics holds a special player in the player’s heart and Mbappe really wants to experience the tournament as a footballer. He also already won two titles with the French national team, FIFA World Cup in 2018 and the UEFA Nations League in 2021.
