Chelsea Transfer News – Thomas Tuchel open to a return to Stamford Bridge

A reunion between Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel could happen in the summer according to Bild. The German manager is keeping himself updated with what is happening at Stamford Bridge at the moment. Despite a bitter ending with Todd Boehly in his first stint, Tuchel is not closing his door yet for a second chance.

It is confirmed that Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. However some reports also suggest he would have been sacked anyway if the club had failed to advance further in the Champions League. His relationship with the Allianz Arena-based side has fallen apart owing to poor performances recently as Bayern are trailing 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen.

Todd Boehly also reportedly believes that Chelsea was in a better position when Tuchel was in charge. The Blues won the Champions League for the second time in the history of the club in 2021, leading the German manager to the World’s Best Club Coach award at the end of the season.

Cheslea Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel is not the only contender

Winning the Champions League made Chelsea eligible to play in the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, which both they have won. Despite reports saying Tuchel is opening his door for Chelsea, some other names also appeared to be strong candidates. Lately, The Blues former manager, Frank Lampard, also opened up about going back into a management role, although he did not specify for which club.

“Yeah enjoying being with the family and looking to get back at some point,” Lampard told TalkSport. “Hopefully something comes up that feels the right thing for me, I’m keen to get working again but as I reiterate, I am enjoying the [family life].

“It’s an intense job so when you’re out of it, it’s nice to appreciate being around all my children, my young children particularly and spending more time with those.”

Other sources also suggest that it would be Mourinho who is returning. Even The Blues’ former player and manager Ruud Gullit, supports the idea.

“He can,” Gullit said via Sportskeeda. “ I like Mourinho. I think what he’s done is unbelievable. He’s been in difficult situations. He was sometimes taking attention to the wrong things at time but I think he has it.”

Thomas Tuchel has a decent reputation with Chelsea

Tuchel sits third as the club’s manager to have the highest win percentage with 60 percent, losing only to Maurizio Sarri (62%) and Antonio Conte (65%). His record is even better than Jose Mourinho who only won 59 percent of his games while taking charge as manager.

It was only because the Blues had a poor start in the 2022/23, Boehly and co. decided to get rid of him. Something that might be regretted as of today, looking at what Chelsea have done so far with Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea are struggling since the Argentinian manager came to the club, sitting 11th at the current standing of the Premier League. The only possible title to win is the FA Cup as they secured a place in the quarter-final and are scheduled to face Leicester City this mid-month.
