Thomas Tuchel leads the race to replace Erik ten Hag as the next manager of the Premier League club Man United if the Dutchman gets sacked at the end of the season. The current Bayern Munich manager has been linked with a return back to English football for a while ever since he’s made it official that he will be leaving the Bundesliga club at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
Earlier in April, many reports in the English media were helming Tuchel as the manager to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United for the next season, as United’s current boss was under severe pressure for average performances from his team. However, ten Hag has managed to salvage a bit of respect for himself after the Red Devils secured a place in the FA Cup final and remained in the hunt for a potential European spot in the Premier League table.
However, the top six isn’t where the fans of United and the footballing world expect the club to be. Everyone wants the club to be pushing for those Champions League spots at least and slowly progress towards challenging for the league’s title. But the Dutch manager hasn’t been able to get that level of consistent performance out of his team. The English media outlet – ‘The Mirror’ signified that Thomas Tuchel might replace Erik ten Hag at Man United.
United under the current stake ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been looking for ways to take the club back to where it was in the football pyramid since its origin. With Tuchel’s pedigree and his earlier Premier League experience, he does stand out. Several reports have also held that the Red Devils’ hierarchy is in talks with the current Bayern Munich manager to take over from the next season.
Man United eye a clear-out and reset before the next Premier League season
According to reports Man United is eyeing a major clear-out in the summer transfer window as they are willing to listen for offers for a majority of their first-team squad players including some of the fringe players. Offers for team members like Harry Maguire, Christen Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are expected to be entertained by the club.
However, reports further insist, that it will take quite hefty offers for United to even think about selling pivotal squad members like Andre Onana and Bruno Fernandes. The club might be hyper-active in the upcoming transfer window to keep up with FFP rules amidst facing compact financial constraints.
