Thiago Silva reveals next Chelsea dream in farewell speech
Thiago Silva has revealed that he dreams of seeing his sons play for Chelsea. He was giving his farewell speech at Stamford Bridge after the 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.
The Brazilian started off the speech by thanking his family, and then went on to thank Marina Granovskaia and Frank Lampard for bringing him to Chelsea. He was brought to tears at the start and was quick to sign off, as he could not hold them back.
Before ending his speech, the former PSG star said he was keen on watching his sons make it to the club and said:
“My dream is to see my kids play for you. I’ll miss you guys a lot. I love you.”
Silva sent a message to the fans earlier this month to confirm his decision to leave the club. He said:
“I came here with the intention of only staying for a year and it ended up being four years. Not just for me but for my family, too. My sons play for Chelsea so it is a source of great pride to be a part of the Chelsea family – literally because my sons are here. I hope they continue their careers here at this victorious club that many players wish to be part of. [It’s been a] dream, definitely a dream. Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I could achieve such great things and win one of the best professional titles, the Champions League, at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Goodbyes are for those that leave and don’t come back. I intend on coming back one day…”
Thiago Silva won the UEFA Champions League in his first season at Chelsea and added the FIFA Club World and the UEFA Super Cup to his trophy collection.
Mauricio Pochettino paid tribute to Chelsea’s Thiago Silva after exit was announced
Mauricio Pochettino spoke about Thiago Silva earlier this month and claimed that he was never going to find another player like the Brazilian. He was talking to the media in a Chelsea press conference when he said:
“He is an amazing guy, an amazing professional. I am not going to discover this type of player [again], playing until almost 40 years old, an amazing career. The player, the fans, and the club are going to miss him, but he is happy, he is so proud of his career here at Chelsea and at different clubs. I wish him the best because he deserves this.”
Pochettino has revealed that he had dinner with Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, on Friday, and nothing was communicated about a possible sack.
