Stefano Pioli Will be Sacked at the End of the Season by AC Milan as the Rossoneri’s Hunts for New Manager
Stefano Pioli will be shown the exit gate at the end of the 2023-2024 Seria A campaign by AC Milan
As per the reports, Stefano Pioli will be sacked by the Seria A giants AC Milan at the end of the 2023-2024 season. The news came as a surprise to many in the football hierarchy and also to the fans of the Italian club. But, it seems like the team’s management has made their mind up and is willing to recruit a new candidate for the club’s managerial post in the summer.
The club is currently in the second position in this season’s Seria A table and is almost on the brink of securing a Champions League spot for the next campaign barring any late hiccups in the closing stages of the season. However, the Rossoneri’s are far from challenging for the Seria A title this season as they are currently 17 points behind their fierce rivals Inter Milan who sit on the top with 86 points to their tally with only five matches to go till the season ends.
The reports further hint that the club’s hierarchy has already started looking for options to replace Stefano Pioli for the 2024-2025 campaign. Premier League club Wolves’ manager Gary O’Neil has emerged as the latest personnel to be linked with the AC Milan job as he termed to be on the shortlist of the Italian club. However, names such as Roberto De Zerbi, and Thomas Tuchel are also being attributed with a potential managerial role at the San Siro-based club.
The performances of the Rossoneri in recent times have not been something to be concerned about. If anything the Seria A side has shown drastic improvements lately in their style of play under Pioli. However, they recently crashed out of the UEFA Europa League early in the quarterfinals, and maybe the inability to challenge Inter Milan for the title has forced the owners to look for a fresh face at the club’s helm.
The stats of Stefano Pioli at the Italian club AC Milan
The Italian manager Stefano Pioli was elected AC Milan’s manager in October 2019. His current contract with the club darts till June 2025. However, after the reports of him being sacked early, he will most probably not run down his contract at the Seria A team.
In the 2023-2024 season of the Italian top-flight league, under him, the Rossoneri have managed to win 21 out of their 33 matches, while they have lost just six, and drawn the remaining six fixtures. He has managed the club in six UEFA Champions League and six UEFA Europa matches this season. Overall he has managed the club in a sum of 235 matches till now with 131 wins, 53 losses, and 51 draws to his tally. He averages a decent fraction of about 1.90 points per match with the Seria A club.
