Spain vs Germany Player Ratings: Dani Olmo 9; Mikel Merino 7; Kai Havertz 5
Spain have managed to seal their place in the EURO 2024 semifinal by knocking out hosts Germany. They needed extra time to book their spot but will be delighted to have finally broken their jinx.
Dani Olmo opened the scoring in the 51st minute after a rather poor first half from both sides. Lamine Yamal’s inch-perfect pass saw the Spaniard place the ball past a diving Manuel Neuer.
Spain looked set to make it to the semifinal but Florian Wirtz took the match to extra time with an 89th minute equalizer. Joshua Kimmich deserves as much credit for the goal as he jumped higher than all to get the ball to the youngster.
The penalty shootout was on the cards, but a 119th-minute header from Mikel Merino saw Spain take the lead again. They helped on for the win and made it to the final 4.
Spain National Football Team Player Ratings vs Germany
Goalkeeper
Unai Simón – 8: Dani Olmo will make the headlines but Unai Simon was on another level today. Five crucial saves and was always ready to go into the crowd to collect the ball.
DEFENDERS
Daniel Carvajal – 6: He got booked in the second half and was bound to miss the semifinal. Took the red card in the final seconds to ensure his side were through.
Robin Le Normand – 6.5: Decent first half but was having trouble with Jamal Musiala.
Aymeric Laporte – 7.5: Unreal performance from the defender as he was always on Fullkurg and other German attackers every time they tried to enter the box.
Marc Cucurella – 7.5: The ‘weak-link’ has made his critics swallow their words. He was on top of his game once again and hardly put a foot wrong.
MIDFIELDERS
Pedri – 6: Got injured early in the game and played just 8 minutes and was replaced by Dani Olmo. Still managed to trouble Manuel Neuer with a shot in the first minute.
Rodri – 7.5: The anchor in the Spain midfield that allows others to flourish. He just knows where to be in every minute of the game and also when to commit the fouls.
Fabián Ruiz – 7.5: A performance that will go under the radar. The midfielder was in top form today but with Omlo getting a goal and an assist, the limelight will not be on Ruiz.
FORWARDS
Lamine Yamal – 7.5: With every game, Yamal makes fans question if he is actually 16 years old. He was superb on the ball once again and his assist was inch-perfect.
Álvaro Morata – 6: Not his best match as he was unable to get a shot on target. Got booked for celebrating the winner and will now miss the semifinal.
Nico Williams 6.5: Relatively quiet game for the Spaniard and he will be devastated. He had a lot of freedom on the left wing, but could not go much.

Nacho Fernández – 6
Ferran Torres – 5.5

GOALKEEPER
Manuel Neuer – 7: Should have done a lot better for the two goals but overall, had a decent game. Made 4 saves and was ready to collect all passes when needed.
DEFENDERS
Joshua Kimmich – 7: Solid game for the right back and his assist for the equalizer was sublime. He jumped higher than anyone expected and it was crucial for the game to go into extra time.
Antonio Rüdiger – 5.5: A game where Rudiger hardly did anything wrong, but when he did, it was catastrophic. Two moments of sloppiness from the German defender and Spain scored twice.
Jonathan Tah – 6: Not a match he would want to remember as he was unable to do much with Morata and Yamal.
David Raum – 6: Played ahead of Maximilian Mittelstädt as Germany looked to attack from the left, but just could not get himself into the attacking third.
MIDFIELDERS
