Sir Jim Ratcliffe Eyes Zinedine Zidane for Manchester United Managerial Role
Speculation swirls around Manchester United‘s managerial future as Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s new minority shareholder, reportedly harbours ambitions of appointing Zinedine Zidane as the next head coach.
Poor Performance Under Ten Hag
Despite recent improvements in results during the 2024 season, questions loom over the tenure of current manager Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils suffered their 15th defeat of the campaign against Fulham, leaving them sixth in the Premier League standings.
While Ratcliffe has yet to publicly endorse Ten Hag, the Dutchman remained resolute in the face of speculation during his press conference ahead of United’s FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest, expressing his focus solely on the team’s progress.
However, according to reports from Foot Mercato, Ratcliffe is actively exploring the prospect of bringing Zinedine Zidane to Old Trafford, identifying the Frenchman as his preferred managerial candidate.

Can Zinedine Zidane replace Erik ten Hag
The interest in Zidane stems from his illustrious managerial career, particularly his successful tenure at Real Madrid, where he clinched multiple La Liga titles and Champions League triumphs.
Jean-Claude Blanc, CEO of INEOS Sport, is purportedly a fervent admirer of Zidane and previously attempted to lure him to Paris Saint-Germain.
Bayern Munich also reportedly seeks Zidane’s services following the announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s departure. Despite being out of management since leaving Real Madrid in May 2021, Zidane remains a highly sought-after figure in the footballing world.
Manchester United faces a pivotal period as they aim to rebound from their recent defeat to Fulham, with crucial fixtures against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and a high-stakes encounter against Manchester City looming on the horizon.
