Shreyanka Patil Sidelined Due to Injury: Who Has Replaced Her in the RCB Squad?

Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of WPL 2025 due to a shin injury. The talented off-spinner was one of the key members of the squad that took RCB to their maiden WPL victory last year. Her absence will be missed as she put on a stellar performance by claiming 13 scalps in 15 matches.

What’s the latest update on Shreyanka Patil injury?

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru star was unable to appear for the team’s campaign opener against the Gujarat Giants due to injury concerns and today it was confirmed that Sneh Rana will be replacing her for the rest of the season.

According to the official WPL statement, Sneh Rana joins RCB as an injury replacement for Shreyanka Patil. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday picked Sneh Rana as a replacement for Shreyanka Patil for the remainder of the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025.

Shreyanka, who has played 15 matches for RCB and has scalped 19 wickets, is ruled out of the third edition of the TATA WPL due to an injury.

Rana, who is an all-rounder, has previously played for Gujarat Giants (GG) in the TATA WPL. She joins RCB for INR 30 Lakh.”

Patil has been plagued by injuries since last year

Shreyanka Patil, a talented Indian cricketer for Karnataka and RCB, has unfortunately been sidelined by injuries recently. In July 2024, during the Women’s Asia Cup match against Pakistan, Patil fractured a finger on her left hand while attempting a catch. This forced her to withdraw from the tournament, with Tanuja Kanwar stepping in as her replacement.

Patil’s latest injuries have undoubtedly been a hurdle for the young cricketer, disrupting her playing schedule and impacting her contributions to both her national and franchise teams.

However, the signing of Sneh Rana is good news for RCB fans who previously played for Gujarat Giants in the first edition of the tournament. The all-rounder was left out during this year’s auction but her addition to the Bengaluru-based outfit gives her a chance to showcase her cricketing skills. Last year’s champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first match thanks to the lightning performances by Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh. The team will be looking forward to continuing their momentum as they face the Delhi Capitals on February 17, 2025.
