Seko Mohamed Fofana who is popularly known as Fofana is an attacking midfielder representing Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023/24 season. Early Life

Fofana was born in the city of Paris located in France on May 7, 1995. His parents were traditionally from Ivory Coast. As per the reports, not many details are available about his parents or early life, on any platform. However, the major inspiration behind him playing in the senior national team of Cote d’Ivoire. Club

During the initial stages of his career, Fofana represented Paris FC at the age of 9. After having rigorous training in the club he joined the famous Lorient club at the age of 15. Finally, after a lot of dedication and hard work, Fofana was able to become a part of his dream club Manchester FC at the age of 17.

MANCHESTER CITY

While playing under Manchester City, Fofana was sent to the development squad of the club. Fofana began to play as a regular player of the club in the 2013 – 14 season, where he scored 5 goals in the 20 appearances he made under the Premiere League and scored 2 goals under the UEFA Youth League. However, during a match against HNK Rijeka, which was a U – 19 level friendly match, he was racially abused by an opposition player, and because of this he along with his team left the ground as a symbol of revolt.

FULHAM

Fofana was transferred on loan to the then-champion team Fulham in the year 2014. Just 2 days after his appointment, he played a match against Brighton & Hove Albion, where he came on as a substitute in the 63rd minute of the match and made his team win with a scoreline of 2-1. He scored his first goal for the club against his match with Huddersfield Town. In the 21 appearances which he made, he scored only 1 goal and then returned back to his home team Manchester City

BASTIA

Again in 2015, Fofana in order to provide further experience was transferred on a loan to the French club of Bastia. Here, he played his debut match against Rennes in the Ligue 1 tournament where his team won with a scoreline of 2-1. He scored his first goal for the club in his match against Troyes. This goal helped his team to play a draw against the team with a scoreline of 1-1. In the total 32 appearances which he made for the club, he only scored 1 goal and was returned back to Manchester City after the end of the season.

UDINESE

Three years later after leaving Bastia, Fofana joined the Serie A side of Udinese, where he signed a deal of €2.4 million Along with it, he was about to receive a bonus of a further €2 million. He made his debut against Roma where he was substituted in the 79th minute, and his team lost with a scoreline of 4-0. In the total 112 appearances which he made for Udinese, he scored a total of 13 goals.

LENS

After this, in the year 2020, Fofana signed a 4-year deal with Lens. He scored his first goal against Dijon and was also rewarded as the Ligue 1 Player of the Month in September 2020. He also won the title of Prix Marc-Vivien Foéfor being the best African player in the topmost league of France. In the total 103 appearances which he made for Lens to date, he has scored a total of 17 goals.

AL NASSR

Fofana signed a deal with the Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr for a whopping amount of €25 million in the year 2023. This is a three-year deal which shall extend up to the year 2026. Till now, Fofana had made 4 appearances for the club on the field.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

Due to the French and Ivorian nationality of his parents, Fofana was eligible to represent both national teams simultaneously. During the early phase of his career, he represented France in the U-16, U-17, U-18, and U-19. However, after 2017, Fofana decided to represent the country of his father’s origin. He represented Ivory Coast during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification where his team lost against Morocco with a scoreline of 2-0
