Scotland suffer Lyndon Dykes injury blow before International Friendly against Gibraltar
Lyndon Dykes Injury: The forward went through a major injury scare during one of his recent training session
Scotland has a major concern on their hands in the form of Lyndon Dykes injury scare leading into their pre-Euro 2024 international friendly against Gibraltar on June 3. The Scottish forward holds the key for them in terms of their attacking strength as Steve Clarke’s team prepare for their opening Euro 2024 encounter against Germany.
Dykes has been in decent nick of form for the English Championship club QPR (Queens Park Rangers). Scotland would be hoping that he would be able to carry that form with him for the upcoming international stint. However, the news regarding him suffering an injury blow during his most recent training session in Glasgow might keep Steve Clarke on his toes, waiting for an official confirmation on his fitness.

As per ‘Sky Sports’, a stretcher was needed to carry off Scotland’s frontman off the field after his training session injury scare. According to ‘BBC’, the Scotland national football team hierarchy is still waiting on his scan results to plan things accordingly going ahead. The injury is being specified as a leg injury. Dykes is currently being looked upon by the national team’s medical staff.
Lyndon Dykes numbers for Scotland on the international stage
Lyndon Dykes made his debut on the international stage for Scotland in September 2020. The 28-year-old forward has played a sum of 31 games for his country at the highest level till now. He has managed to score nine goals in these matches played. Dykes does find himself in Steve Clarke’s Scotland’s UEFA Euro 2024 squad as one of the most prominent players.
Even though he didn’t have such an outstanding season for QPR in terms of numbers leading into the international season, his on-field presence and his work ethic have often been praised by the club’s supporters throughout the most recently concluded Championship campaign. The QPR forward bagged six goals and one assist in his 41 outings for the club in the 2023-2024 Championship season.

Scotland would be hoping to have him fully fit and available before their initial Group fixtures for the Euro 2024 kick-off. Steve Clarke’s side will be coming up against a star-studded German team in their first match of the tournament. It will be played on June 14, at the Allianz Arena. Any further reports on Lyndon Dykes injury remains yet to be disclosed by the Scottish team management.
