Saudi Pro League Team Of The Week: Matchweek 5
The Saudi Pro League’s fifth match week saw thrilling action as the clubs competed for points. Even though the Saudi Pro League 2023–24 season is just getting started, the competition is fierce and the matchups are highly unexpected. The league, home to some of the best talent, leaves no space for error. Here is a look at the team of the week from the Saudi Pro League’s fifth match week:
Marcelo Grohe- Goalkeeper (Al-Ittihad)
Marcelo Grohe’s performed well throughout the league so far. In his five games including match week 5, the Al-Ittihad goalkeeper secured 4 clean sheets with conceding 4 goals.
Waleed Al-Ahmed- Defender (Al-Taawoun)
Al-Taawoun’s defender Waleed Al-Ahmed has been incredible this season. He appeared in four games and despite having multiple warnings and two yellow cards he spent 175 minutes on the field last week.
Alex Telles- Defender (Al-Nassr)
Rolando’s teammate Alex Telles appeared in just one game last week against Al-Hilal. He didn’t score a goal for his club but his efforts as a defender led his team to a winning crunch. Despite having a fair performance, whether he’ll be part of the team for the next game or not it totally depends on the club and captain.
Hamdan Al-Shamrani- Defender (Al-Ettifaq)
Al-Ettifaq’s Left-back and Winger Hamdan Al-Shamrani has been a tremendous performer in match week 5. He spent just 42 minutes on the field but his efforts were enough to recognize him as the top defender in match week 5. He has scored just one goal.
Mohammed Alburayk- Defender (Al-Hilal)
Al Hilal’s defender Alburayk has been in good form. He scored his first seasonal goal against Abha FC in matchweek five. His contribution to the team is tremendous. The club is hoping for his simultaneous performance next week.
Andrei Cordea- Midfielder (Al-Taee)
Al-Taee FC had a scare against Abha but excellent showings from players like Cordea ultimately inspired them to a commendable victory. He scored a goal at 83 minutes against Abha FC. If he keeps playing like this, there won’t be a scary situation for Al-Taee, soon.
Abderrazak Hamdallah-Midfielder (Al-Ittihad)
Al Ittihad striker Abderrazak Hamdallah started his Saudi Pro League season blazingly and had been the top goal scorer for a long week. However, his performance in match week five was not up to the mark but his assist led his team to the winning moment.
Salem Aldawsari- Midfielder (Al-Nassr)
Rolando’s teammate Salem Aldawsari is in fabulous form. He has scored four goals in five games so far. Aldawsari scored a crucial goal against Al Hila in match week five. Although, Al-Ittihad couldn’t win the game.
Karim Benzema- Midfielder (Al-Ittihad)
Al Itihad striker Benzema did a magnificent job against Al-Hilal. He scored a goal before halftime to put his team in a winning situation. However, Benzema’s Al-Ittihad couldn’t fight back and lost the game by a 3-4 margin.
Cristiano Rolando- Forward (Al-Nassr)
Al-Nassr secured an easy win against Al-Hazem in matchweek 5. A creative cog of the Saudi Pro League, Cristiano Rolando took his goal well and no doubt for him because he had already found his feet at Al-Nassr. If he keeps performing, no doubt he can be the top scorer of the league.
Sadio Mane – Forward (Al-Nassr)
Rolando’s teammate Mane has been a tremendous performer in match week 5. While playing against Al-Hilal, Sadio scored a dazzling goal and took his team to the winning moment. At Forward, He competes with Cristiano to score more goals for the team.
Top Strikers of The Week: Match Week 5
