Copa America 2024: Cristian Romero admits that Paulo Dybala’s exclusion from the national team is ‘difficult’
Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero spoke about Paulo Dybala who was left out from the national team for the upcoming 2024 Copa America in the United States. The Tottenham player understands the situation is not easy for everyone as Dybala was one of the top names in the current national team.
Dybala was part of Argentina’s glory in the 2022 World Cup. Lionel Scaloni did not put the former Juventus forward from the 29-men list announced last week. Roy Nemer from Mundo Albiceleste posted on his X post about Romero’s comment regarding Dybala being not in the national team.
The rise of young players
“It must be difficult for the coaching staff to make decisions,” said Romero. “It’s not easy because there are many young players at a high level, many stand out.”
Two Argentina youngsters, Alejandro Garnacho and Julian Alvarez have shown a huge impact for their respective clubs. The aforementioned even played an important role in the FA Cup final, helping Manchester United win the trophy. Meanwhile, Alvarez won the Premier League with Manchester City.
“Paulo (Dybala) is someone who has always been there, who adds a lot. He is one of the fundamental players for the Argentina national team. It’s sad but it’s difficult for the coaching staff to make the decisions.”
Argentina are included in Group A alongside Peru, Chile, and Canada. Albiceleste will come as favourites as they won the latest edition of Copa America in Brazil.
