Rodrigo Bentancur Injury update: Will he play for Tottenham this season?
Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a concerning injury blow while playing for Uruguay in the Copa America 2024 semifinal against Colombia at about the 25th-minute mark of the match, the midfielder collided with his fellow teammate Mathias Olivera in order to win possession back from a Colombian player.
The Tottenham Hotspur man came off worse after the Collision. He reportedly suffered a painful blow to his right leg. Bentancur looked in extreme discomfort. After carrying on for a while he had to be substituted. The 27-year-old was spotted in tears as he sat down in the dugout with the rest of his teammates.
Uruguay lost the semifinal against Colombia by a scoreline of 0-1. Any further official update from the team’s hierarchy regarding the extent of Bentancur’s injury is yet to surface.
Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou would be hoping that they will receive a positive update regarding Rodrigo Bentancur injury. Hopefully, it doesn’t turn out to be anything majorly serious leading into the next Premier League season.
