Rodri Stats: Manchester City midfielder reaches personal milestone on title winning day
Manchester City midfielder Rodri has become the player with the longest unbeaten run in club football history. As City beat west Ham United 3-1 to be crowned Premier League champions, Rodri has now gone 74 consecutive club games unbeaten.
While City lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, it was via penalties. Hence, that defeat didn’t put a stain on Rodri’s perfect run. In this time period, he has won the European treble with City and also the Premier League this season. Rodri will have the chance to further extend his streak when City play Manchester United in the FA Cup final next.
Rodri got on the scoresheet in the win against West Ham. Phil Foden scored a brace (2′, 18′) and Rodri scored another (59′) while Mohamed Kudus pulled one back for the Hammers (42′).
Manchester City midfielder Rodri has the longest unbeaten run in Premier League history
Rodri made 34 league appearances this season, winning 27 and drawing seven. In the four games he missed, City lost three of them. Rodri has now gone unbeaten in 50 Premier League games at a stretch. Sol Campbell is the only player (56 between 2002 and 2004) to have had a longer run.
Given Rodri’s performances and City’s dominance in the Premier League, the Spaniard could surpass Campbell’s record next season. City, meanwhile, have now won four Premier Leagues in a row.
